THE
2009 ANNUAL FLOWERSHOW & COUNTRY FAIR
Will be held on July 24th and 25th - Venue - The Flower Show Field,
Clapton Lane, Portishead, BS20 7RA
This years Show is being opened by Ben Prater from Radio Bristol's Drivetime and we are looking forward to an excellent Show.
The Show will be open from 2.00 - 8.00 pm on Friday and from 10.00 - 6.00 pm on Saturday. Entry £4.00 adults, 10-16 years £2.00 and under 10 years free when accompanied by an adult.
Remember entries have to be in by Tuesday 22 July 2009 and photo entries must be in the week before. There are over 500 classes to enter - so clearly we cannot
show you the full schedule on site, copies will available in various Portishead shops from April 2009 alternatively e-mail t_hodgetts@sky.com or telephone John Tovey on 01275 844118 for further information.
3 Marquee's - full of flower show entries and stands selling a large range of products - there is a large refreshment area selling salads, sandwiches and scrummy cakes. Outside there are further stalls selling plants and pots.
This years Arena Events are as follows (there is a change of timing on Saturday from the Programme Schedule with the Morris Men coming on a little earlier and the Gun Dog Display later. A trampoline (and hopefully a slide) will be available at the Show together with a Tractor, Shepherds Hut and a Fire Engine..
Friday

There will also be a Climbing Frame on the Saturday and the Severn Counties Foreign and British Bird Society will be at the Show with a variety of birds.

The Society could not run the show without the able assistance
of a band of volunteers. From putting up the tables, taking the
entries to the show, catering, stewarding, car park attendants,
the team go into action and the show goes on !
The Society is extremely grateful for the assistance provided
by the numerous volunteers, if you would like to get involved
in a
really friendly show and have a hour or so to spare we have a job
for you
SPRING SHOW
The Spring Show was held in the Folk Hall, High Street, Portishead
on Saturday 8 March 2009. We had a number of open and member only Bulbclasses, details
of which are given below. In addition to this we had a number of
childrens' classes with easter eggs as prizes and cookery classes,
so there is something for everyone.
Daffodils/Narcissi
Cut Flowers (one vase only for each exhibit)
Class 1 Single Flower; yellow petals - one bloom
Class 2 Single Flower, yellow petals - three blooms
Class 3 Single Flower, white petals - one bloom

VISITS TO GARDENS
The Society also organise trips to Gardens. The trips are extremely
popular and most trips require the Society to book 2 x 53 seaters
coaches - with reserve places for those unable to attend at the
last minute !
